What Home Means to Me

There’s something about the word home that immediately brings a wave of feeling. It’s more than a place—it’s a feeling, a memory, a soft landing after a hard day.

For me, home has never been about the square footage or the zip code. It’s the smell of coffee in the morning, the sound of my daughter laughing from the other room, and the way my dog always knows exactly where the sun hits just right on the floor for his afternoon nap.

I didn’t grow up in a picture-perfect house. In fact, some of my most vivid childhood memories happened in small, crowded spaces filled with loud family, mismatched furniture, and a lot of love. We didn’t have much, but we had each other—and that was enough. That’s when I first learned that home isn’t something you buy off a shelf. It’s something you build, moment by moment, with the people you love.

As a mom, I’ve tried to create that same kind of warmth and safety for my own kids. Whether we were renting, buying, or somewhere in between, I always told them: it’s not about the walls, it’s about the feeling inside them.

And now, as a Realtor, I get a front-row seat to one of the most intimate and emotional journeys people take—finding their home. It’s not just a transaction. It’s finding the place where birthdays will be celebrated, meals will be shared, and hard days will soften. I’ve seen tears at closings (happy ones, and sometimes bittersweet ones), and every time, I’m reminded that home is personal. Sacred, even.

One of my favorite things to ask clients is, “What does home look like to you?” Because the answer is never just, “3 bedrooms and 2 baths.” It’s, “a yard where my kids can play,” or “a kitchen big enough for Sunday spaghetti,” or “a space where I can breathe again.”

And that? That’s the real magic.

So if you’re on your own journey right now—whether you’re planting roots or starting over—I hope you find a place that makes you exhale deeply when you walk through the door. A place that feels like you. A place that welcomes you, comforts you, and holds your story.

Because at the end of the day, home isn’t just where the heart is—it’s where your whole self can belong.

What does home mean to you?
I’d love to hear your story. And if you’re searching for your next chapter, I’m here to help you find the place where it begins. 🤍
